Diagnosis Determines Everything

Treatment begins with careful evaluation—not assumptions.

As a faculty member teaching Oral Diagnosis at Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Cohn focuses on clinical and radiographic assessment, detection of pathology, and identifying structural risk before problems worsen.

This approach leads to:

  • More accurate identification of problems
  • Earlier detection of disease and fracture risk
  • More appropriate, conservative treatment decisions
  • Better long-term outcomes

Not Every Broken Tooth Needs a Crown

When a tooth is damaged, the default solution is often full coverage with a crown. In many cases, however, a more conservative approach may be appropriate.

Each tooth is carefully evaluated—clinically and radiographically—to determine how much structure remains and how it can best be preserved.

When possible, restorations such as onlays are used to strengthen the tooth while maintaining healthy structure. When a crown is necessary, it is recommended based on the actual structural needs of the tooth.

Preserve what can be preserved, and restore what must be restored.

Why Patients Choose Our Approach

Many dental offices sound the same. Our approach is different. Treatment is planned with long-term structural stability in mind, with an emphasis on preserving healthy tooth structure whenever possible. In many cases, that means considering onlays instead of full crowns, minimizing unnecessary reduction, and designing care to reduce future fracture risk. Patients who value careful diagnosis, conservative treatment, and lasting results often feel at home here. This approach is intended to help patients avoid repeated treatment and maintain stronger, more stable teeth over time.

Patients often come to our office because they are looking for something different than a one-size-fits-all approach to dentistry.

Treatment is planned with long-term structural stability in mind, with an emphasis on preserving as much natural tooth structure as possible. In many cases, that means considering more conservative options rather than immediately recommending full crowns or more aggressive treatment.

Careful diagnosis, attention to detail, and experience all play an important role in how decisions are made. The goal is not simply to fix a problem, but to help prevent future breakdown and reduce the likelihood of needing repeated treatment on the same tooth.

This approach tends to resonate with patients who prefer careful, conservative treatment and want to make decisions based on long-term outcomes rather than short-term convenience.

The goal is not just to fix the immediate problem, but to reduce the likelihood of needing repeated treatment on the same tooth. Many patients appreciate a more thoughtful, measured approach to care—especially when long-term outcomes are the priority.

Same-Day Crowns

Efficient Treatment When It Makes Sense

Modern digital technology allows many restorations to be completed in a single visit. Same-day crowns can be an excellent option when appropriate, offering efficiency and convenience without multiple appointments.

However, treatment is never one-size-fits-all. Each case is carefully evaluated to determine the most conservative and structurally sound approach for long-term success.

Not every tooth needs a crown, and in many cases, preserving natural structure leads to better long-term results.

Our Approach to Treatment

The goal is not simply to complete a procedure, but to design treatment that will remain stable and functional over time. Preserving natural tooth structure is an important part of this process, as it contributes directly to the strength and longevity of the tooth.

Each case is evaluated individually, taking into account the condition of the tooth, bite forces, and long-term structural considerations. In many situations, more conservative treatment options may provide better long-term outcomes than more aggressive approaches.

This approach is intended to reduce the likelihood of future fracture or repeated treatment, while supporting long-term oral health and stability.

The goal is not just to fix the immediate problem, but to reduce the likelihood of needing repeated treatment on the same tooth.
